Re-Work | Industry of the Ordinary at Pitzer College
In collaboration with the Allan Kaprow-Art as Life retrospective held at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, Industry of the Ordinary reinvent Kaprow’s original piece Work (1969), in which a hallway was repeatedly painted and repainted by professional contractors. The action in the original Work was videotaped and transmitted live to three distinct viewing venues: art-house theatres, pornographic theatres and mainstream theatres. For Re-Work, Industry of the Ordinary hire two sex industry workers, one male and one female, to paint and repaint
a wall.
